MISSION & SERVICE

MISSION & SERVICE

Served by Jesus.  Serving for Jesus.

We follow Jesus’ example and serve God by serving others in many ways.  We support overseas missionaries. We provide food and cook for our neighbors in need.  We bring the Gospel and love to children and families in our community and around the world.

We serve many people in many ways, but for one reason – because Jesus serves us.

WBC is supporting the following missionaries in 2024:

Kyle & Debby Witmer – Debby and Kyle serve the Thai Karen Baptist Convention (TKBC) Siloam Bible Institute in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where they work in pastoral education and leadership development. Young people from the  Karen ethnic group attend the school with the goal of following the call of God on their lives to be pastors and evangelists among the Karen villages in the hills of Thailand. Kyle is also involved in continuing education with TKBC pastors and evangelists. Debby is providing worship leadership to conferences in the area and helping with the English language program at Siloam.  The Witmers continue discipleship with their own children through homeschooling.

Ruth Vidnas – Ruth’s ministry focuses on theological education. She lives in Costa Rica, where she serves on the faculty of the Latin American Biblical University, a seminary founded in 1923 that prepares pastors and leaders to serve in churches throughout Latin America. Ruth teaches Christian education courses, directs the publications department and serves as campus pastor for the students.  (Ruth has taken the role of retired ABC missionary, Ruth Mooney )

Larry & Rebecca Stanton – Larry and Becky are currently serving with International Ministries partners Hungarian Baptist Aid and the Baptist Union of Hungary. Becky works with schools in the eastern region of the country, primary and elementary community schools in Téglás and a technical high school in Debrecen. Larry assists Serbian Baptist churches in Stara Moravica and Paçer with their service to the community and to refugees along the Balkan route.  Larry and Becky’s three daughters attend local schools, learning Hungarian and teaching English as only children can.

Lauran Bethell – Lauran is a global consultant for human trafficking.  Based in the Netherlands, she travels throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas to teach, train and consult grassroots projects addressing the exploitation and abuse of women and children,. In 2004, Lauran directed the first International Christian Alliance on Prostitution (ICAP) Global Conference, bringing together the leaders of faith-based organizations from all over the world who are dedicated to meeting victims of prostitution and human trafficking with healing in Jesus’ name.

Fay Yarbrough – Faye is being trained to serve as a mentor and teacher at Teleios Christian School in King Williams Town, South Africa. This is a church-based school serving disadvantaged children, including those who faced specific struggles within their previous school environments and who benefit from smaller class sizes where their individual needs can be met. Teleios Christian School is, as per its motto, “creating confident children based on God’s word.” Faye will tutor those students who need additional help, especially in the areas of mathematics and sciences.
