The Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf is a local food pantry located in the lower level of Woodbury Lutheran Church. Woodbury Baptist supports this important ministry financially, with donations of non-perishable food, personal care items, diapers and baby wipes, and by providing volunteers to serve local families in need. Are you interested in organizing a food drive or in volunteering at the Food Shelf? Visit ccefs.org/volunteer.
Hope for the Journey Home. WBC is partnering with Hope for the Journey Home, a ministry of Guardian Angels Church in Oakdale, the week of December 11th – 17th to provide temporary housing to families that are homeless. Volunteers can sign up for an evening shift (5:15 – 8:30 p.m.) or an overnight shift (8:15 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. weekdays, 8:15 p.m. – 9:000 a.m. weekends.) All volunteers must have a current background check on file with the WBC office, and must complete the 45-minute Safe Church Training. For more information on this ministry, click here.
The Sheridan Story. WBC partners with The Sheridan Story to bring healthy weekend meals to kids in need at Woodbury Elementary School during the school year. Volunteers discretely deliver the shelf-stable food each Friday directly to the children’s teacher or to their backpacks. If you’d like to sponsor a child for $130 for the school year, or if you’d like to be a part of the delivery team, contact Ron Sandquist at 651-739-5248.
The Star Tree. Help put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas by purchasing a gift or two for the Star Tree. Gifts are donated to local kids whose families are registered with the Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf. Watch for theStar Tree in the church Foyer on November 27th, choose a star from the tree, purchase the suggested item, and put the unwrapped gift under the tree in the church Foyer by December 11th. Contact coordinators, Lee and Gordon Cummins at 651-735-0629, with questions.
Relay For Life. Woodbury Baptist Church is forming a fundraising team for Relay for Life, which will take place at East Ridge High School in June 2017. Last year’s inaugural team raised $4,796, and we are proud to say that there was at least one team member on the track during the entire event! Join in the fun at this family-friendly event, help raise funds to find a cure for cancer, honor survivors or memorialize those who lost their battle.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a hands-on way to reach out to members and friends of Woodbury Baptist who are going through difficult times. Shawls are made by volunteers who pray as they knit for the person who will receive it. If you’d like to be involved in this ministry, or if you need yarn or patterns, contact the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
