Missions

Woodbury Baptist Church provides many opportunities for service.  We consider the workplace and community to be the most important places where service, witness, and ministry can take place.

Through the many service opportunities offered at WBC, many of our people have really been drawn to make service a regular part of their life.  We will shortly be developing a web page to feature our people in continuous service through Partners in Education, the Hmong Girls Book Club, World Servants, the ABC Xtreme team and more.

Refugee Resettlement is a big priority for WBC in 2004-2005.  In August of 2004 our Karen family arrived from Burma.  We are working to help them settle into their new life in the United States.

Costa Rica Sister Church
WBC has recently adopted a sister church in Costa Rica with which we will be developing a stronger relationship over the next several years.  We hope to send a mission trip their within the next couple years.

Angel Tree is a ministry of love and care for kids who have a parent in prison.  Members and friends buy Christmas gifts for these little "angels."  Woodbury Baptist participates in Christmas gift ministries as well.

The Mitten Tree is a project to collect hats and mittens for Naomi House.  Naomi House provides transitional housing and programs for homeless women and their children.

Mission trips sponsored by the Mission Board offer opportunities for individuals and families of all ages to be involved in work/mission trips.  Recent trips have included youth mission trips to Ruiz and Tecate, Mexico, and trips for all ages to the Murrow Indian Children's Home, Kentucky, Appalachia, and Montana.  In 2007 our youth will return to Mexico and adults and families will return to Murrow Home.

Loves and Fishes has become an important tradition of serving the hungry of St. Paul.  On the 3rd Monday of every other month, volunteers grocery shop, cook, service, and clean up for persons in that neighborhood.

The Christian Cupboard, a local food shelf in Woodbury, is heavily supported financially and by volunteers who staff this weekly ministry to the hungry.

Project Home is a ministry to the homeless in the Twin Cities.  WBC partners with other churches in the Twin Cities, a week at a time, to staff an overflow shelter from 5:00 PM until 7:00 AM each day.

Caring Hearts for Homeless People is a ministry where WBC parishioners provide medication, hygiene items, and other supplies to be given to the homeless.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a ministry to members and friends of our church going through difficult times.  Shawls are knit by volunteers who pray, as they knit, for the person to whom the shawl will be gifted.

Woodbury Baptist church supports a number of American Baptist colleges and seminaries, as well other American Baptist missions.
